Stellenbeschreibung

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled English Speaking Photonics Engineer to join our innovative team in Oberhausen. This is a hybrid role, offering flexibility between on-site collaboration and remote work. As a Photonics Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the design, development, and testing of advanced optical systems for our cutting-edge products. You will work within a dynamic R&D environment, contributing to projects from initial concept through to manufacturing, ensuring our products meet the highest standards of performance and reliability. Your expertise in photonics will directly impact the next generation of TRUMPF’s laser and machine tool technologies.

Hauptverantwortlichkeiten

• Design, simulate, and analyze complex optical systems and components using industry-standard software.
• Develop and execute test plans for optical systems, components, and prototypes, analyzing results and providing feedback for design improvements.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams (mechanical, electrical, software) to integrate photonics into larger systems.
• Conduct research into new optical technologies and materials to enhance product performance and drive innovation.
• Troubleshoot optical system issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
• Prepare detailed technical documentation, including design specifications, test reports, and manufacturing guidelines.
• Participate in design reviews and contribute to strategic planning for future product development.
• Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in photonics and optical engineering.

Erforderliche Fähigkeiten

• Master's degree in Photonics, Optics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience in optical system design, simulation, and characterization.
• Proficiency with optical design software such as Zemax, CODE V, LightTools, or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of fundamental photonics principles, including geometrical optics, physical optics, laser physics, and optomechanics.
• Hands-on experience with optical laboratory equipment (e.g., lasers, detectors, spectrometers, interferometers).
• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration in an international team.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced R&D environment.

Bevorzugte Qualifikationen

• Ph.D. in Photonics or a closely related discipline.
• Experience in the design and development of high-power laser systems or precision optical instruments.
• Knowledge of optical fabrication processes and metrology techniques.
• Familiarity with programming languages such as Python or MATLAB for data analysis and automation.
• Prior experience in an industrial R&D setting.
• Basic proficiency in German is a plus, though not required.
