Stellenbeschreibung

We are seeking a highly innovative and dedicated Hybrid Aerospace Propulsion Engineer to join our Aviation R&D team in Bergisch Gladbach. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in the research, design, and development of next-generation hybrid propulsion systems for various aviation applications. You will work on conceptualizing, simulating, and testing novel architectures that combine traditional combustion with electric power, aiming for increased efficiency, reduced emissions, and enhanced performance. This role demands a blend of theoretical knowledge, practical application, and a forward-thinking mindset to push the boundaries of aerospace engineering.

Hauptverantwortlichkeiten

  • Lead or contribute to the conceptual design and analysis of hybrid-electric propulsion systems for fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft.
  • Develop and utilize advanced simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, Ansys, GT-SUITE) for system performance prediction, component sizing, and integration analysis.
  • Conduct trade studies to evaluate different hybrid architectures, power management strategies, and component selections (e.g., electric motors, generators, batteries, power electronics).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including aerothermal, mechanical, electrical, and control systems engineers.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of experimental test campaigns for sub-scale and full-scale propulsion components and systems.
  • Analyze test data, identify discrepancies, and propose design modifications or improvements.
  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in aerospace propulsion, electric machines, energy storage, and power electronics.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and patent applications as required.

Erforderliche Fähigkeiten

  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in aerospace propulsion, with a focus on hybrid-electric or electric propulsion systems.
  • Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and electric machine principles.
  • Proficiency in propulsion system modeling and simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, Modelica, Python).
  • Experience with CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks) for conceptual design.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced R&D environment.

Bevorzugte Qualifikationen

  • Ph.D. in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Experience with power electronics, battery management systems, or fuel cell technologies.
  • Familiarity with aerospace certification processes and regulatory requirements.
  • Prior experience in engine or aircraft OEM R&D projects.
  • Knowledge of optimization algorithms and multi-disciplinary design analysis (MDA).
