We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Hybrid UAV/Drone Systems Engineer to join our innovative Unmanned Vehicles team in Böblingen. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for the design, development, and integration of complex hybrid propulsion systems for our next-generation unmanned aerial vehicles. You will work across the full lifecycle, from concept and requirements definition through to testing and validation, ensuring our UAVs meet stringent performance, reliability, and safety standards. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to pioneering projects at the forefront of aerospace technology.

Hauptverantwortlichkeiten

• Lead the design and analysis of hybrid propulsion systems (electric/combustion) for UAVs, focusing on power management, energy efficiency, and endurance.
• Develop detailed system requirements, specifications, and architecture for UAV subsystems, including flight control, navigation, communication, and payload integration.
• Perform trade studies and simulations to optimize system performance and validate design choices.
• Conduct hands-on integration, testing, and troubleshooting of hardware and software components on prototype UAV platforms.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical, electrical, software, and aerodynamics engineers.
• Document design decisions, test plans, and results in accordance with aerospace industry standards.
• Support flight testing and data analysis to verify system performance and identify areas for improvement.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices in UAVs, hybrid propulsion, and aerospace engineering.

Erforderliche Fähigkeiten

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in systems engineering, specifically with UAVs, drones, or other unmanned systems.
• Proven experience with hybrid propulsion systems (e.g., gasoline-electric, turboshaft-electric) for aerospace applications.
• Strong understanding of flight dynamics, control systems, and power electronics.
• Proficiency in system design tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, CAD software).
• Experience with sensor integration (GPS, IMU, LiDAR) and communication protocols.
• Familiarity with aerospace development processes and safety standards (e.g., DO-178C, DO-254).
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

Bevorzugte Qualifikationen

• PhD in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Experience with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) methodologies.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity considerations for UAV systems.
• Pilot license for drones or manned aircraft.
• Knowledge of German language (B2 level or higher).
