We are seeking a diligent and experienced Export/Import Clerk – Customs & Freight to join our dynamic team in Ingolstadt. In this vital role, you will be responsible for managing the end-to-end customs clearance processes for both export and import shipments, ensuring compliance with all national and international regulations. You will be a key player in ensuring smooth and efficient flow of goods, interacting with customs authorities, carriers, and clients to facilitate timely and compliant freight movement.
Hauptverantwortlichkeiten
- Prepare and process customs declarations for import and export shipments in accordance with German and EU regulations.
- Ensure accurate classification of goods using tariff codes and determine applicable duties and taxes.
- Liaise with customs authorities, freight forwarders, and shipping lines to resolve any customs-related issues and ensure prompt clearance.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of customs regulations, trade agreements, and compliance requirements.
- Handle all necessary documentation, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, and certificates of origin.
- Communicate effectively with clients regarding customs procedures, documentation requirements, and shipment status.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies in documentation or shipment data to prevent delays.
- Utilize customs software systems (e.g., ATLAS) for efficient processing and accurate record-keeping.
- Support the wider logistics team in various administrative and operational tasks as required.
Erforderliche Fähigkeiten
- Proven experience (minimum 2 years) as an Export/Import Clerk or in a similar customs role.
- Solid understanding of German and EU customs regulations and procedures.
- Proficiency in customs declaration software (e.g., ATLAS).
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, in German and English.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Bevorzugte Qualifikationen
- Relevant vocational training or certification in logistics, customs, or freight forwarding.
- Experience with specific product categories or industry sectors (e.g., automotive, manufacturing).
- Additional language skills are a plus.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive attitude towards challenges.
- Familiarity with Incoterms and international trade practices.
