Stellenbeschreibung
We are looking for a motivated Working Student to join our international team focused on forestry data analysis. This is an excellent opportunity for a student passionate about environmental science, remote sensing, and data processing to contribute to meaningful research. You will assist in the acquisition, processing, and analysis of satellite and other remote sensing data to monitor forest ecosystems, detect changes, and support various forestry-related projects. No prior German language skills are required, as our team operates entirely in English.
Hauptverantwortlichkeiten
- Assist in the collection and validation of geospatial data, including satellite imagery and GIS datasets.
- Perform pre-processing and quality control of forestry-related data (e.g., normalization, georeferencing).
- Support the development and execution of data analysis scripts using programming languages like Python or R.
- Create visualizations, maps, and reports to present findings and communicate data insights.
- Contribute to ongoing research projects focusing on forest health, biomass estimation, and land-use change detection.
- Collaborate effectively with an international team of researchers and scientists.
- Document methodologies and processes for data handling and analysis.
Erforderliche Fähigkeiten
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Forestry, Geoinformatics, GIS, Environmental Science, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Basic theoretical and practical understanding of GIS software (e.g., QGIS, ArcGIS).
- Familiarity with data manipulation and scripting, preferably in Python or R.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Bevorzugte Qualifikationen
- Previous experience with remote sensing data or image processing.
- Basic knowledge of forestry concepts or ecological principles.
- Experience with cloud-based geoprocessing platforms (e.g., Google Earth Engine, AWS).
- Prior experience in a research assistant or data-focused role.
