Stellenbeschreibung

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Hybrid Rolling Stock Mechanical Engineer to join our innovative team in Nuremberg. In this hybrid role, you will be instrumental in the design, development, and maintenance of cutting-edge rolling stock solutions. You will contribute to projects from conceptualization through to implementation, ensuring the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and performance for our next-generation trains and trams. This position requires strong technical expertise in mechanical engineering principles applied to rail vehicles, coupled with excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to engineering challenges.

Hauptverantwortlichkeiten

• Design, analyze, and optimize mechanical systems and components for rolling stock, including bogies, car bodies, interiors, and braking systems.
• Develop detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation using CAD software.
• Conduct structural analysis, simulations (FEA), and calculations to ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and safety regulations (e.g., EN, TSI).
• Participate in the full product lifecycle, from concept and prototype development to testing, validation, and series production support.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical engineers, manufacturing, procurement, and project management.
• Identify and resolve technical issues during design, manufacturing, and operational phases.
• Support technical investigations, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes, tools, and methodologies.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and participate in design reviews.

Erforderliche Fähigkeiten

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in mechanical design and analysis, specifically within the rolling stock, automotive, or heavy machinery industries.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., NX, CATIA, SolidWorks) and PDM systems.
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, materials science, and manufacturing processes.
• Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) for structural and fatigue analysis.
• Familiarity with international railway standards and regulations (e.g., EN 15313, EN 12663, TSI).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid team environment, balancing on-site and remote work.

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience with hybrid propulsion systems or alternative energy solutions for rolling stock.
• Knowledge of railway vehicle dynamics and comfort analysis.
• Proficiency in German language (B2 level or higher).
• Project management experience or certification.
• Familiarity with FMEA, RAMS, and LCC methodologies.
