Are you passionate about wildlife, conservation, and making an impact through data? WWF Austria is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Zoology Intern to join our remote data team. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to vital conservation efforts by assisting with data collection, entry, cleaning, and preliminary analysis related to various zoological and ecological projects across Austria. As a remote intern, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and accessibility of our conservation data, supporting our scientists and project managers in making informed decisions. This position is ideal for students or recent graduates looking to gain practical experience in environmental data management and conservation.

Hauptverantwortlichkeiten

• Assist in the collection, organization, and entry of zoological data from diverse sources (e.g., field observations, research papers, citizen science platforms).
• Perform data cleaning and validation to ensure accuracy and consistency of datasets.
• Support the development and maintenance of data management protocols and databases.
• Conduct preliminary data analysis using basic statistical tools and generate summary reports.
• Collaborate with project managers and scientists to understand data requirements and deliver actionable insights.
• Contribute to the documentation of data processes and methodologies.
• Participate in virtual team meetings and training sessions.
• Research and compile information on specific species or ecological topics as needed.

Erforderliche Fähigkeiten

• Strong interest in zoology, wildlife conservation, or environmental science.
• Proficiency in English (written and verbal communication).
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Basic computer literacy, including experience with spreadsheets (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets).
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive attitude.
• Enthusiasm for learning new data management tools and techniques.

Bevorzugte Qualifikationen

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Zoology, Biology, Environmental Science, Conservation, or a related field.
• Familiarity with data entry software or database systems.
• Basic understanding of statistical concepts and data analysis methods.
• Experience with GIS software or other data visualization tools (e.g., QGIS, Tableau).
• Knowledge of German is a plus but not required for this English-speaking role.
