Stellenbeschreibung

We are seeking a motivated Werkstudent (student worker) to join our Bioinformatics team in Villingen-Schwenningen. This is an excellent opportunity for a student currently pursuing a degree in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Biology, or a related field, to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic research and development environment. You will support our team in developing and improving bioinformatics pipelines, analyzing complex biological datasets, and contributing to innovative projects.

Hauptverantwortlichkeiten

• Assist in the development, testing, and maintenance of bioinformatics pipelines and software tools.
• Perform data analysis on various biological datasets (e.g., NGS, proteomics) under supervision.
• Contribute to the documentation of code, methods, and analysis results.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for project improvement.
• Support senior bioinformatics scientists in ongoing research and development projects.
• Keep up-to-date with current bioinformatics methodologies and tools.

Erforderliche Fähigkeiten

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Biology, or a related scientific discipline.
• Strong programming skills in Python or R.
• Basic understanding of molecular biology and genetics concepts.
• Familiarity with Linux/Unix command line.
• Proficiency in English (both written and spoken) as it is our working language.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Bevorzugte Qualifikationen

• Prior experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Experience with bioinformatics tools and databases (e.g., Bioconductor, NCBI).
• Coursework or project experience in statistics or machine learning.
• Initial experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) is a plus.
